Comment 5- Helicopter parenting: I'M WATCHING YOU!
Have you ever talked to a person about something and suddenly a lot of ads related to that topic started to appear on your phone? We must be very careful with this since they are constantly observing us and getting our information. Now, even more with virtual assistants like “Alexa” or “Siri”. They can listen to all our conversations, in fact… we authorize them to do it!
It´s true that sometimes I have felt observed by someone, and despite looking everywhere, there wasn´t anybody there. However, we aren´t being watched by a real person, we are being observed by our mobile phones, tablets or other technological devices. We have less and less privacy, and that is a huge problem because it can influence you to find a job.
Although this can also happen in real life with the “helicopter parents”, who are parents who control and protect their children too much, invading their space and privacy. This often has the opposite effect; that children don´t trust their parents and when they have a real problem they hide it from them for fear of being punished.
Having confidence in your parents is really important, but having it in your children too. I think helicopter parenting is a mistake because you show your child that you don't trust him and that is why you have to control everything he or she does. The best is to be aware of your child and control him or her in a certain way, but not obsessively. You have to find the balance.
