2020, a lap year
A leap year is a year that has one more day, and that day is 29th February. It has 366 days instead of 365. It is a very interesting thing because it makes it a unique day. This happens every 4 years because the Earth takes a little more than 365 days to go around the sun, specifically 6 more hours. When we add the six hours over 4 years, they add up 24 hours, that is one day, and that is why every four years there is one more day than normal.
One of my best friends was born on February 29th, 2004. That is why this year, a little before the quarantine began, he celebrated his 4th birthday. It was really funny, because he blew out 4 candles instead of 16, even though he actually cel
ebrates his birthday every year on March 1st. Despite not always having a birthday, he likes it because he says it is something more special.

I love leap years, because so the Andalusian break we usually have one more day of holidays. Also, it feels like a weird day, but at the same time special. The year I was born, 2004, was a leap, but since I was born in November I didn´t live that day, so I have only lived 3 leap years in my whole life.
A curiosity is that in Greece, they consider leap years bring bad luck… They must be right... We can find important negative events that occurred in leap years, such as the sinking of the Titanic or the beginning of World War II or the coronavirus! In Ireland, quite the opposite, the leap year is considered a symbol of good luck. Important positive events have also happened, such as the discovery of penicillin. Maybe it's all coincidence, and after all, a leap year is a normal year, only with one more day.
